Basically, this is a good story, but it is unfinished. The author is creative. The characters are likeable. And the action is enjoyable. It is easy to see why many people rate this book four or five stars. I would like to read the whole thing if the author ever rewrites it and cleans up the many errors. It reads like it is only a rough draft that was never fleshed out and tweaked. But I am sure the outline was well thought out. After getting through 59% of it, I was so distracted by the choppy writing and grammar and spelling errors that I decided to quit wasting my time.

I was surprised to enjoy this book! But it was easy to read and the characters interesting. I would probably read the sequel as there are many tantalising possibilities at the end of this novel.
I so did not want the book to end. I stayed up all night reading this book. I loved how she wove the story and can not wait until the next one. Another favorite author. S. M. Hineline. And my daughter is now reading.
Already looking forward to the sequel! Guess that's one problem of learning about a book before the sequel has been written ;)

Hunting is a fun, easy-to-read novel. It's centered mainly around Vampire legend but mixes in some other well-known Fantasy elements as well as some additional concepts I wasn't familiar with. Hineline pulls on her experience living in China to introduce us to Eastern mythos such as the "Yo Ling". This cool new concept even worked its way into my dreams recently!

Most of my reads are much more serious, but sometimes it's nice to have a casual read that's easy to chomp through. Given the speed with which this can be read, along with the $2 price-tag, it's pretty hard to go wrong if you buy it to find out if this book is your style.

story line. lots of thought went into Hunting.I heartily recommend it. An excellent choice for a weekend, or week.
I'm usually a fan of two literary genres classic sci-fi and humor. I have read some fantasy novels in my time, but when a friend of mine recommended I read "Hunting" I was a bit skeptical, especially when I heard it was about vampires. The Twilight series irreparably ruined the vampire genre by disregarding core mythology and replacing it with poorly-written teenage lust.

Fortunately, "Hunting" is nothing like Twilight. It has interesting and relatable characters with plausible motivations. It creates a modern-day vampire mythology that doesn't disrespect the genre and keeps the true essence of what makes vampires both fascinating and horrifying. Thirdly, the book doesn't bog the reader down in trashy romance and gives the reader exactly what they want out of a vampire book -- page-turning action and high-stakes drama.

"Hunting" is a great first book from Hineline. The ending is mostly conclusive but it is clear there is room for more installments. I look forward to seeing what else happens in the Vampire Kingdom.
I really like Vampire stories and this one did something no other had done. It gave the Vampires their own nation within ours. Their rules, and their own problems. It was a refreshing new story. I do wish the writing itself was a bit better. There were a few times where dialog between 3 characters was going on and I wasn't sure who was actually speaking. All in all a good book.
Jane's world has Vampires, and when she was very young America decided to give Vampires their own area. Now an ambassador to the Vampires she has everyday knowledge of feelings against them. Her friend is the Princess of their nation. Jade also had a special mental ability. When the princess is chosen to lead one of the hunt parties, she's worried and rightly should be, not everyone is,hunting a baby.
